The new Radisson Blu hotel in Santa Maria on Sal island is expected to open in November. In addition to the 240 guest bedrooms, there will be two restaurants, four bars a spa and swimming pool. One of the bars will be a roof top facility. There will also be a large conference and event space too, which is reported to be the largest in Cape verde. This new five-star resort will have a modern, minimalist aesthetic. The new hotel will open directly on the lovely white sandy beach in Santa Maria.
The opening of another hotel is further evidence of the tourism growth and potential in Cape Verde. It is unfortunate that it coincides with the demise of Thomas Cook, reducing the choice in direct flights from the UK.
Radisson Blu is part of the Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group, which operates some 1400 hotels in some 115 countries. The new hotel on Sal will add to the company’s portfolio on the best beach locations in Africa. They already have two hotels in Mauritius.
